LED light therapy or ‘laser facial’ is not a new concept; however, it has more recently gained popularity in skin clinics around the globe. Ozmedica has a variety of treatments which are suitable for the pigmentation, tattoos, skin rejuvenation and acne.
The reason for the popularity of these treatments is simple – they work. They work because they use scientifically proven mechanisms that help various skin issues such as; bacteria, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
What are the types of LED light therapy?
There are three different types of LED light therapy used by Ozmedica; Kinelift treatment (LED red light), Purelight B treatment (LED blue light) and Purelight G treatment (LED green light).
Kinelift Treatment (Led red light)
Kinelift treatment provided by Ozmedica is also known as their LED red light treatment. This procedure is effective for common skin conditions including;
Epidermal aging: Dehydration lines, redness, dull and lifeless complexion.
Dermal aging: Expression lines, deep wrinkles around the eyes and the lips, solar elastosis on the cheeks and the neckline.
Muscle aging: Sagging jowls, nasal-labial fold, sagging eyelids.
Purelight B Treatment (LED blue light)
Purelight B treatment by Ozmedica is for the treatment of the common skin condition known as acne vulgaris. This condition is one of the world’s most common skin conditions, resulting from the obstruction, bacterial colonization, and inflammation of the sebaceous follicles. It affects between 85-100% of adolescents under the age of 24 years and is present in up to 50% of adults over 25 years.
Purelight targets bacteria without thermally affecting the surrounding tissues, which makes it safe to undergo multiple sessions over time.
There are many benefits to using Purelight B treatment on acne including;
A relatively quick result with only 6 to 12 treatments required
Due to the safety of this procedure, it can be performed 1 to 3 times per week
Non-comedogenic products can be applied immediately after treatments.
Purelight G treatment (green light)
Purelight G treatment is most effective for the treatment of age or liver spots (lentigines). These spots are small flat pigmented spots, similar to freckles, which are mostly seen on sun-exposed skin on those over age 40. These benign acquired melanocytic lesions are usually light to dark brown and do not change in colour as freckles do upon sun exposure.
Hyperpigmentation is also sometimes seen during pregnancy. The increased pigmentation seen in pregnancy is due to the increase in certain hormones. Hormonally related hyperpigmentation, such as that occurring in pregnancy, can also show up as a condition called the mask of pregnancy or melasma. This is a condition in which blotches of pigmentation appear on the face or sun-exposed areas. If this skin condition doesn’t go away naturally after pregnancy, Purelight G treatments can be very effective.
How do LED light procedures work?
LED light therapy is a non-invasive procedure, and many say it’s actually a pleasant experience that they look forward to pampering themselves with. The LED lights are most commonly emitted through a mask or a machine which sits directly over the face as you lay down. The procedure is completely painless which is a plus for many. LED light therapy is safe to do in conjunction with many treatments such as injectables and facials, to increase the effects of the treatment.
